Right so from my understanding of the wikipedia page - Laplace's demon/devil is a thought experiment that gets referenced in BBC sherlock. It basically states that if a being knew the present and past positions of all atoms in the universe, it could predict future positions accurately. When you apply it to people - people are a product of their environment. If you were aware of all that they have been and done, you can probably guess what they'd do accurately in a future situation. I believe people are inherently reactionary in a very much hard deterministic sense. Soft determinism is a pussy COWARD option. Free will doesnt really exist all that much i think. Its just an upsetting idea that people "have no choice". But you do HAVE the choice, its just that. You were always going to pick one option. If someone loves strawberries and was offered strawberry or chocolate ice cream, they'd take the strawberry. They had the option but they were almost certainly gonna choose the strawberry.
